A series of workshops will take place to create a regional transportation vision for the Baltimore Metropolitan Council. Portfolio Associates will lead the effort, which will also include Kittelson & Associates and TND Planning Group. The project will focus on making the link between transportation and land use planning, and will use the Transect as a guiding principle, according to Stu Sirota of TND Planning Group. The transportation vision grows out of regional planning in the fall of 2008 led by Eliot Allen of Criterion Planners of Portland, Oregon. That effort, sponsored by the Metropolitan Council and the Urban Land Institute, brought together leading planners from five counties to map out how the region should grow. It also was organized around the urban-to-rural Transect.
