Calthorpe Associates has been hired to lead a $2.5 million Vision California effort — to create a strategic growth plan for the state, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. Phase one will be to set up parameters for the project and compile data. Phase two will involve projecting future trends and then developing scenarios with greater emphasis on mass transit and higher-density development patterns, the Chronicle reported. Phase three will come up with a “preferred scenario” coupled with an outreach campaign to show how it “can most effectively impact the development of state, regional, and local policies aimed at meeting state climate change and other key goals,” the paper reported.
