Oklahoma City, which ranked dead last in Prevention

Oklahoma City, which ranked dead last in Prevention magazine’s 2008 assessment of sizable American cities for walkability, commissioned Jeff Speck to tell the city how to improve conditions for pedestrians downtown. Speck says Oklahoma City’s streets need changes because they’re wide enough to handle two to three times the volume of traffic they carry. The municipality is carrying out a study of how to improve downtown streets, sidewalks, lighting, and other amenities.
