Developer Sergio Pino is proposing a 200-acre, 2,700-unit traditional neighborhood development (TND) in Doral, Miami-Dade County, Florida. Grand Bay includes shops, two schools, parks, and a church. The Miami-Dade County Commission voted to change the zoning of the site to TND (the county has the oldest TND zoning on the books, approved in 1991). A report in the Miami Herald attributed the design of Grand Bay to new urbanist Erick Valle. Another Miami-Dade County project, called Naranja Lakes, is under construction, according to the report. It was designed by Valle, Estela Valle, Jaime Correa, Elizabeth Plater-Zyberk, and a team of consultants that included traffic engineer Rick Chellman and market researcher Todd Zimmerman.
