EBSCO Industries, the developer of a new urban community near Birmingham, Alabama, called Mt. Laurel, is now planning another major project. Somerset Beach was designed in June on a 160-acre site in South Walton County, Florida, on the Gulf Coast.
The project is less than a mile from Rosemary Beach, a well-known TND, and seven miles from Seaside. The planner is Duany Plater-Zyberk & Company. Somerset Beach will have 599 home sites, 90,000 square feet of commercial space, and 7,000 square feet of civic space. Housing types will include cottages, courtyard units, and villas.
