Our Town grants support 'creative placemaking'

The National Endowment for the Arts recently announced 80 Our Town grants, totaling $4,995,000. The grants support a wide range of visual and performing arts in cities and towns across the US, with a focus on employing arts to revitalize the built environment or enhance community. Grants support downtown festivals, public art, and designing spaces for artists, among other activities. A number of grantees will create plans for renovation of vacant buildings for artists' businesses and live-work space, or cultural centers. NEA received 317 applications.
