Playgrounds are not just for kids any more

Playgrounds geared to adults could help deal with America's fitness problems and at the same time give people an additional place for neighborhood socializing. New York City is testing its first playground for adults—in a park in the Bronx—and plans to create as many as two dozen additional such playgrounds in the next 18 months, The New York Times reports. They have also been built in Los Angeles, San Antonio, Miami-Dade County, and elsewhere. Essentially, they're outdoor gyms, with adult-sized equipment for exercising. They take up little space, and they cost much less than children's playgrounds.
