Healthy Kids, Healthy Communities
ROBERT STEUTEVILLE JAN. 1, 2009
The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation has begun awarding grants of up to $400,000 to communities that try to reverse the epidemic of childhood obesity by increasing opportunities for physical activity and by improving access to healthy, affordable foods. Nine communities are sharing in the first round of the $44 million Healthy Kids, Healthy Communities initiative. The program will grow to 70 communities by late this year.
