“Honey, Who Shrunk the Wal-Mart,” could be a title of a documentary film sometime in the future. The big-box merchandiser has introduced a 10,000-15,000 square foot neighborhood grocery store format, according to a report in the San Diego Union-Tribune. The retailer announced four such stores in Arizona and Wal-Mart is listed as the grocery store tenant for an 11,000 sq. ft. space in downtown San Diego, the newspaper reports. Wal-Mart may be planning 1,000 to 1,500 such stores, which it calls the Marketside concept, according to media reports.
