Baltimore-based Ayers Saint Gross is expected to begin work in January on SmartCode land development rules for Long Beach, Mississippi. The responsibilities of Ayers Saint Gross will include drafting subdivision requirements for the city, which had a population of about 17,000 before Hurricane Katrina. After 10 months of ironing out the details, the Board of Aldermen voted in December to execute a $450,000 contract under which the firm will produce the Long Beach’s master plan.
