Mike Watkins, who has headed up the Washington, DC, office of Duany Plater-Zyberk & Company for 19 years, has enrolled in the inaugeral class of a master’s program with an emphasis on classical design. The program is offered jointly by the Institute for Classical Architecture & Classical America and the Georgia Institute of Technology. Marina Khoury, a director of town planning with DPZ, will step in to lead the DC office, based in the Gaithersburg, Maryland, new town of Kentlands. Watkins showed up at the 1988 Kentlands design charrette, offered his services, “and has been there ever since,” according to a recent DPZ news release.
