Wal-Mart appears likely to use some new urbanist

Wal-Mart appears likely to use some new urbanist ideas when the company replaces its hurricane-destroyed store in Pass Christian, Mississippi, says Mayor Chip McDermott. Mayor McDermott told The Sun Herald in late September that Wal-Mart is taking the rebuilding slowly, but seems receptive to design concepts presented by new urbanists during last fall’s Mississippi Renewal Forum. That could mean a departure from the standard big box sitting behind a wide-open parking lot.
