Towne Center at Haddon is the first project in New Jersey to win recognition from the Delaware Valley Smart Growth Alliance as a smart-growth undertaking. Fieldstone Associates of Doylestown, Pennsylvania, is proposing to develop 25,000 square feet of street-level retail and 198 residential units on a six-acre brownfield site across from a train station in Haddon Township. The housing would consist of 72 loft-style condominiums with parking underground, 60 mid-rise condos, 40 garden units, and 26 townhouses. The Alliance, made up of more than 100 government, private-sector, and nonprofit organizations in southern New Jersey, southeast Pennsylvania, and Delaware, recognizes smart-growth projects as a way to help them gain the local approvals they need.
