Developers of Blue Back Square fight lawsuit

Developers of Blue Back Square, a large, planned new urban expansion of the West Hartford Center in Connecticut, are fighting a lawsuit from a national shopping mall operator, Taubman Centers of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan (see Dec. 2004 New Urban News). Taubman, which owns the big Westfarms Mall in West Hartford, contends that the town’s process for approving Blue Back Square last fall was flawed. Taubman’s claim has drawn ridicule in the Hartford Courant and has prompted some residents to urge a consumer boycott of Westfarms.
