Taking advantage of a lull in development

Taking advantage of a lull in development in Silicon Valley, the Greenbelt Alliance sponsored a plan that demonstrates an alternative to proposed sprawl in the 6,800-acre Coyote Valley. The plan, which preserves most of the land as farms and natural areas, still accommodates 50,000 jobs and 20,000 housing units. WRT Solomon ETC won a 2004 national Honor Award for Regional and Urban Design from the AIA for Coyote Valley. More on this project in the July issue of New Urban News.
