Grandview, a six square-mile unincorporated area just east of Durango, CO, will become a new urban community if it is not stopped by citizen opposition to development. Jeff Speck of Duany Plater-Zyberk and Co. was hired by the Tierra Group, LLC, the real estate and development arm of the Southern Ute Indian Tribe’s Growth Fund, and the Crader family to draw up a plan for the property along US Highway 160. Speck sees possible integration of big-box stores such as Target. Additionally, part of the 900-acre development will be home to Mercy Medical Center.
