The suburban Toledo community of Perrysburg, Ohio, is moving expeditiously to adopt a proposed urban village overlay district plan. On Jan. 9, the planning commission officially recommended the measure to city council.
City planning and zoning administrator Doug Guest says the ordinance will encourage mixed uses and pedestrian traffic, and aims to preserve the city’s sense of character while accommodating growth.
A public hearing has been scheduled for Feb. 4, after which the proposal will be framed as a zoning ordinance to be voted on by the city council at its Mar. 4 meeting.
And what about opposition to the overlay district? “Absolutely none,” according to Guest, who adds, “Everybody — from city officials to developers — is all for it.”
