Infrastructure work is progressing on the future site

Infrastructure work is progressing on the future site of South Park Village, the redevelopment of an Air Force base in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The $20 million cost of the new street grid, a landscaped parkway, sewers, and parks is covered entirely by the Myrtle Beach Air Force Base Redevelopment Authority. The agency is working with the real estate firm Grub & Ellis of Atlanta to find private developers for the first 69 acres of the 100-acre site. South Park village is poised to become a new town center for Myrtle Beach with retail, multifamily, office, commercial, and recreational uses. Fred Glover of the redevelopment authority notes that the exact numbers of housing units and the square footage of commercial uses will be settled when a developer is on board. South Park Village was masterplanned by DesignWorks of Charleston.
