Organization news CNU members recently received a new publication in their mailboxes, the New Urban Post. This publication is being produced and paid for by The Town Paper, based in Gaithersburg, Maryland. The Post compiles e-mail discussions on particular topics; the first issue examines the possibility of certifying new urbanist practitioners and projects. More issues are planned, focusing on gentrification and environmentalism. In addition, The Town Paper has released a record of the recent Charter Council in Charleston; that publication is available for $10 per copy. The CNU.org website includes a calendar where you can add your own events. To add to the calendar, log in, then click “calendar events” on the left side of the screen. You are welcome to add charrettes, classes, conferences, and social gatherings, so long as the event will be of broad interest to new urbanists. The working title of the Congress is “Rebuilding the Suburbs,” so sessions are likely to look at the challenges and successes of turning sprawl into neighborhoods. A local host committee is forming in Miami.
