The City Council in North Miami, Florida, has adopted a master plan for the redevelopment of the NE 6th Avenue corridor. A charrette led by the Treasure Coast Regional Planning Council produced proposals for, among other things, narrowing the roadway, adding on-street parking, and lining parts of the streets with multistory, mixed-use buildings. The existing roadway is an excessive 58 feet wide — in contrast, the master plan calls for two 11 ft. travel lanes and wide sidewalks.
