The University of Maryland has named Gerrit

The University of Maryland has named Gerrit Knaap, a nationally-recognized scholar on the economics and politics of land-use planning, to serve as director of research for the university’s new National Center for Smart Growth Research, Education and Training. Knaap is currently a professor at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The National Center for Smart Growth was launched last year to examine the fiscal,
environmental and social impacts of alternative development patterns, conduct research and evaluate land-use programs, and develop educational materials for
decision-makers.
