“It [New Urbanism] is currently a boutique market that appeals to a segment of the home-buying market (empty nesters, singles, young professionals). Unfortunately, there are still many government regulatory and community perception hurdles to overcome. It’s not the panacea that many claim it to be. New Urbanism developments will not replace traditional suburbs in the foreseeable future. However, one can already find many of the New Urbanism concepts of smaller lots and community centers wrapped in traditional subdivision designs. It’s important to realize that most Americans go through several housing cycles in their lifetime.
