A substantial amount of new construction has taken place in Olde Towne Gaithersburg, Maryland, since a new urbanist plan and urban design guidelines were adopted in the mid-1990s. Recent developments include a building with 65,000 square feet of offices and 15,000 square feet of ground floor retail, and a 42,500 sq. ft. office building. The structures were designed to fit in contextually with the historic architecture and urbanism. Serving these buildings is a 720-space parking garage hidden behind 68 condominium units. All three structures were built by Coakley & Williams Construction. Other buildings, such as the 384-unit Park Station Apartments, have contributed to the revival of Olde Towne and met the intent of the plan. Duany Plater-Zyberk & Company consulted on the plan and design guidelines.
