The first homes are selling well

The first homes are selling well in Del Paso Nuevo, a 150-acre TND in Sacramento, California, under construction with the help of $10.4 million in grants and loans from the US Department of Housing and Urban Development. The houses, the first of which were scheduled for completion in May, are sold at 80 percent of the median sale price in the area, according to Jeff Townsend, the project planner from Carter & Burgess. The homes are being built according to traditional design guidelines. The project consists of a mix of houses and civic buildings on a modified grid of streets between two heavily traveled urban streets. Both of the bordering streets will have transit, and one will become a mixed-use main street. Sacramento Housing and Redevelopment Agency is planning to build the first 300 homes, with private developers adding another 500.
