Italian scholar Tagliaventi to publish American new urbanist work

Italian scholar Gabriele Tag-liaventi is producing a major publication of American new urbanist work. Those interested should send material directly to Tagliaventi, at Universita di Bologna, Facolta di Ingegneria, Istituto di Architettura e Urbanistica, Viale Risogimento 2, Bologna, 40136 Italy. Tagliaventi has done major publications and exhibits in Europe. He is most interested in built work, and particularly greenfield work. According to board member Andres Duany, “Unlike the US, Italy has the center cities under control, but the American suburban export model is overwhelming them.” We welcome new Task Force Chairs Don Chen and Kaid Benfield. Chen will be taking time away from his job at the Surface Transportation Policy Project to serve as vice chair of the Transportation Task Force. By day, Benfield is a lawyer and distinguished writer at the Natural Resources Defense Council. He will moonlight as vice-chair of the Environment Task Force. Both men are based in Washington, DC. Both are, with CNU, involved in the powerhouse coalition called Smart Growth America (Chen is its founder and director; Benfield is on the steering committee). With Matt Raimi, they coauthored the influential book Once There Were Greenfields. CNU looks forward to their involvement. CNU is always looking for volunteers and interns to help us out.
