Federal Realty Investment Trust and Post Properties will begin construction this summer on Pentagon Row, the first in a series of cooperative mixed-use projects planned by the companies since the announcement of their strategic alliance last fall. Designed by RTKL Associates, Inc., the 18-acre project in Arlington, Virginia, features a first phase of 500 mid-rise residential apartments above 300,000 square feet of street level retail. Post Properties will be responsible for the residential component of phase one, which is scheduled for completion by the fall of 2000. Several anchor tenants have already committed to the project, which is the first mixed-use, ground-up development for Federal Realty.
