ROBERT STEUTEVILLE    JAN. 1, 1999
n The Wharton Real Estate Review recently featured essays by new urbanists Andres Duany, Robert Davis, Laurie Volk, Todd Zimmerman, and Witold Rybczynski. Copies of Volume 11, Number 2, Fall 1998 can be obtained directly from the Samuel Zell and Robert Lurie Real Estate Center, The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, (215) 898-2841.
n Look for the Transportation Task Force’s latest foray into publishing in the next Task Force Report. Their “Transportation Tech Sheets” address new urbanist transportation tools. The first series provides techniques for traffic calming, estimating pedestrian capture rates, parking management and free parking, and reintroducing vintage trolleys as a viable transportation option. Within the next few months these Tech Sheets will be available from CNU. Similar publication efforts are planned by the Inner City Task Force and the Standards and Precedents Task Force.
n Welcome new (and old) CNU Staff. Josh Switzky joined CNU last September as membership coordinator and Chris Hudson in November as deputy director. Jennifer Hock (our former membership coordinator) moved over to task force coordinator and Andy Shafer continues to serve as jack-of-all-trades.
n Save the Date! CNU VII will take place in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, June 3 through 6, 1999. Mayor John Norquist has asked the Congress to focus on “The Wealth of Cities.” We expect this to be one of the most provocative (and most popular) Congresses ever.
