Haymount still planned
ROBERT STEUTEVILLE    MAY. 1, 1998
Well before the master planning of Civano or the conception of Coffee Creek, or even the term “New Urbanism” was coined, developer John Clark dreamed of building Haymount, an environmentally sensitive TND in Caroline County, Virginia. Eight years later Haymount remains a dream — but one that is coming closer to reality, Clark claims.
Designed by Duany Plater-Zyberk & Company, the 4,000-unit, 1,682-acre Haymount is designed to have a constructed wetlands wastewater system — which is one factor in holding up permits, Clark says. About two-thirds of the land will be preserved in open space, including a working farm.
