Planners for the City of Gainesville, Florida, are preparing a traditional neighborhood development (TND) ordinance to be considered for adoption in 1998. The city has reviewed six TND codes approved by other local governments: Dade County, Florida; Huntersville, North Carolina; Belmont, North Carolina; Austin, Texas; Jacksonville, Florida; and Palm Beach County, Florida. In addition, the Duany Plater-Zyberk & Company (DPZ) model TND ordinance is being reviewed. Most of those examples call for TNDs on parcels of 40 to 200 acres.
