A 19-acre mixed-use development is being proposed on Lady’s Island in Beaufort, South Carolina, across the Beaufort River from downtown. Aslan Development Group of Louisville, Kentucky, has hired LandPlan Partnership of Hilton Head to do the urban design for Whitehall. The project is in the early stages of planning, and Aslan and LandPlan are working with the city on entitlement issues, such as allowing mixed-use buildings to be constructed adjacent to the sidewalk, according to Truitt Rabun of LandPlan. Downtown Beaufort is the model for the character of Whitehall, Rabun notes.
