Amicus Partners is the new home of Robert

Amicus Partners is the new home of Robert Shaw, former Dallas Cowboy and pioneering new urbanist developer. “Amicus means friends in Latin,” Shaw says, “and we are three friends who believe cities are going to be better.” Shaw’s partners are Jim Leslie and former quarterback Roger Staubach who were both instrumental in Columbus Realty Trust, the company founded by Shaw. After Post Properties bought Columbus, Shaw stayed on for a year to guide the transition. His split with Post was amicable, Shaw says, “but in mergers the CEO of the smaller company rarely survives.” Amicus is built on the same new urbanist philosophy as Post and Columbus, but the partners intend to practice their craft on a smaller scale. One current project is a collaboration with DART, the Dallas transit authority, on a development surrounding a light rail station in the historic center of Plano. Amicus is also involved in two Denver infill projects, Cherry Creek and the Commons.
