A change in political leadership may mean a delay in the plans for a new urban extension of Port Wentworth, Georgia (see October/November 2000 New Urban News). Principal Planner Denise Grabowski says the newly elected mayor has expressed reservations about the 2,000-acre master plan completed by Lott+Barber Architects for the city. Water and sewer has been extended to the site, a wetlands permit based on the master plan is imminent, Grabowski says. “But the plan may have to survive on the shelf for a while,” she adds.
