At CNU’s Transportation Summit in December, participants
ROBERT STEUTEVILLE    JUN. 1, 2003
At CNU’s Transportation Summit in December, participants identified a handful of major “work streams” that they felt needed to be completed. At the time, volunteers signed up for a few of the tasks, leaving many unfilled. Since then, member Fred Dock has found leaders and volunteers to fulfill all of the work streams. Tim Rood is leading a team that will describe place types; Jim Daisa will lead those devising the new urbanist functional classification of streets; Tony Sease and Norman Garrick are in charge of criteria for design elements that change from one class to the other; Frank Spielberg will lead those looking at the connection with local streets; and Fred Dock will help people look at case studies. CNU staff, led by Ellen Greenberg, is developing a literature review of alternative street design standards. Find out more at a working breakfast Sunday, June 22 at 8 a.m. at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington, as part of CNU XI. Full details are in the Congress program.
