Columbus, Ohio, may soon join the short list of major cities that have adopted new urbanist codes. The Traditional Neighborhood Development Code was written by city staff with assistance from Duany Plater-Zyberk & Company and will go before the City Council in January 2001. Developers would be able to use the optional code for both infill and greenfield developments. The code employs the core, center, general, and edge districts of the Transect, but is also modeled in part on the TND code in Austin, Texas.
