Crocker Park up for a vote

The fate of Crocker Park, a planned new urbanist retail and residential development in Westlake, Ohio, is now in the hands of voters at the November ballots. The project will go forward if voters approve an amendment to the city’s zoning code for Planned Unit Developments and a measure to rezone the 76-acre site. The plan by Streetworks of Alexandria, Virginia, features an urban core of four blocks with three- and four-story mixed-use buildings that conceal interior parking garages. Two freestanding retail buildings provide terminating vistas for the streets that intersect at the heart of Crocker Park. The main entrance road resembles an esplanade. The perimeter of the property is residential — with rowhouses and duplexes. Developer Stark Enterprises plans to build 400 apartments, 205 townhomes, 610,000 square feet of retail and restaurants, and 225,000 square feet of offices.
