Event marketing boosts Oregon TND

Staging events has been a key marketing strategy for an Oregon traditional neighborhood development (TND). An annual event called Hullabaloo attracts 10,000 people on a single day to NorthWest Crossing in Bend, and the community also hosts a popular farmer's market with 50 vendors throughout the summer. NorthWest Crossing has increased sales every year from a low point of 18 in 2007. The community is on target to sell 107 houses in 2012, general manager David Ford told Better! Cities & Towns, which featured this project in the December issue. A new phase of lots nearly sold out in early October in a single day, with 35 sales to approved builders.
