Fire mitigation module created for SmartCode

The Center for Applied Transect Studies announced that a major SmartCode Module (27 pages including annotations, and diagrams) has been posted on fire mitigation. To download that or any of the other 27 modules, go here.

The module is called Fire Mitigation in the Wildland Urban Interface (WUI) by Martin Dreiling and Dreiling Terrones Architecture in California.

The central innovation of this work is that in wildland Fire Hazard Severity Zones, a Common Zone of Defense may surround clusters of buildings, including CLD and TND, instead of the usual practice of requiring a separate Zone of Defense around every building, which creates sprawl patterns, says Sandy Sorlien of of the Transect Codes Council.
