The first grouping of homes around

The first grouping of homes around a square has been completed in Annesgrove, upstate New York’s first traditional neighborhood development. The houses in the Onondaga County project are clad in vinyl, but the developer has taken advantage of new colors available with this siding material. The broad range of colors in Annesgrove goes a long way to improve the look of the vinyl siding. The small-lot single houses, by developer The Pioneer Companies, range from a modest 1,300 to 1,500 square feet (not counting the full basements which can be finished to substantially add to usable space). Half of the first homes are built on alleys. The other half have front-loaded garages, but these are set back 20 feet from the facade. This setback eliminates the “garagescape” appearance of conventional subdivisions, and allows residents to park their cars in the driveway without the streetscape resembling a parking lot.
