The first phase of construction is nearing completion

The first phase of construction is nearing completion in Afton Village, a 170-acre traditional neighborhood development (TND) in Cabarrus County, North Carolina. Ten single homes, twelve townhomes, and four duplexes are scheduled for completion by late fall, 1999. Since sales began in May, most of the initial units have been sold. Pricing for three bedroom homes begins at $159,000. Designed by David Mayfield and developed by Mayfield/Lakeland LLC, the project will include 540 units in a mix of residential neighborhoods and civic buildings surrounding a village green, plus a commercial area and a 60-acre park. The project draws on traditional southern architecture and features large front porches, and garages on alleys with carriage units.
