Howe Dairy Farm is the first project to be approved in the City of Gastonia, North Carolina, under its new TND Ordinance. The Gandy Communities project is led by Phil Gandy and Lisa Valdez with the help of Francis Reiner, senior urban designer for HNTB of Charlotte.
The 308-acre plan features a mixed-use village center with 55,000 square feet of proposed neighborhood shops beneath residential condominiums. Howe Dairy Farm also includes 225 townhouses and 750 single-family houses. The project includes 91 acres of parks, open space, trails, and plazas, a future expansion site for the Gaston County YMCA, and 32 acres for Gaston County schools. The village center has been designed around a traditional green.
