Light rail under construction in Phoenix

Phoenix, Arizona, has a light-rail line under construction that will connect the city to Mesa and Tempa, due for completion in 2008. Community Design + Architecture of Berkeley, California, was hired to create vision plans for transit-oriented development (TOD) sites around all of the stations. Phil Erickson, a principal of the firm, says that sketch development plans were created for 50 opportunity sites along the line. The city subsequently adopted TOD overlay zoning, Erickson says. u
