Miami Township, Ohio, is planning to convert

Miami Township, Ohio, is planning to convert a mile-long economically depressed suburban commercial corridor to a town center with neighborhoods. The township, an affluent suburb of Cincinnati, is assembling three key parcels amounting to nearly 50 acres to jumpstart the redevelopment, which could eventually cover 300 acres. The city has drafted a zoning overlay based on the principles of New Urbanism.
The plan came out of a public desire to have something other than big boxes, which are springing up near a bypass expressway which furthered the demise of the 1970s commercial strip. Several private developers will be required to carry out the plan, according to township planner Larry Fronk.
