Modern-style townhouses and condominiums are now for sale

Modern-style townhouses and condominiums are now for sale in the Stapleton development in Denver. The 68-unit Syracuse Village by builder BMW Realty Partners was designed by Wolff Lyon Architects and is among the most affordable housing in Stapleton. Starting in the low $100,000s, the townhouses and condominiums also mark a stylistic break from the mostly traditional and vernacular styles built in Stapleton so far. The units feature flat roofs, no eaves, horizontally proportioned windows, and no ornament – yet are laid out in a traditional urban pattern.
Other affordable housing in more traditional styles is coming on line in Stapleton: duplexes, fourplexes, and carriage homes starting at $123,000, plus courtyard apartments for senior citizens. Master developer Forest City agreed to provide 10 percent affordable housing in the 12,000-unit new urban redevelopment of the former Stapleton Airport. Four additional parcels are to be donated to nonprofit affordable housing developers.
