More than 72 percent of citizens in Windsor, California, voted to enact an urban growth boundary (UGB) in January. Windsor’s UGB secures a boundary for 20 years. During the last year an a half, UGBs have been adopted in the San Francisco Bay Area communities of Cupertino, Healdsburg, Los Gatos, Monte Sereno, Morgan Hill, Novato, Pleasanton, San Jose, Santa Rosa, and Sebastopol, according to the Greenbelt Alliance, a nonprofit group that supports UGBs. As many as nine other communities are expected to consider UGBs over the next year, including Cotati, Gilroy, Half Moon Bay, Livermore, Milpitas, Palo Alto, Petaluma, Saratoga, and Sonoma, the Greenbelt Alliance
reports.
