Narrow streets are not only safer

Narrow streets are not only safer and more pedestrian-friendly, they also cost less. According to recent calculations by a Utah consultant, the cost of resurfacing a 24 ft. road with two inches of asphalt is $45,619 per linear mile. The cost increases incrementally by $3,802 per mile for a 26 ft. road, $19,008 per mile for a 34 ft. road, and $34,214 per mile for a 42 ft. road.
