New Urbanism show planned

The National Building Museum is seeking to raise $50,000 to $100,000 from foundations, businesses and other groups to mount an exhibit, The New Urbanism and the Future of Community. It would be presented in a 3,000 square foot gallery in the former Pension Building, the home of the museum and one of the grandest buildings in Washington, D.C. This exhibit offers significant potential for education because of the number of visitors to the museum, says president and director Susan Henshaw Jones. The show will be one of many special events planned for the Year 2000 and will examine the history of development in this country, examples of the New Urbanism and criticism of the trend. A curator is sought.
