Norfolk’s East Beach on its way to becoming reality
ROBERT STEUTEVILLE    SEP. 1, 2003
Norfolk, Virginia’s East Beach is at last on its way to becoming a reality. A public/private reclamation of 100 formerly blighted bayshore acres, the plan by Duany Plater-Zyberk & Company has been delayed by land acquisition, relocation of former residents, and changes in the development partners. This summer the Norfolk Redevelopment & Housing Authority, Leyland- Alliance LLC, and East Beach Renaissance LLC began $30 million in infrastructure development for an eventual 700 residential units and 150,000 square feet of office and retail space.
