Oklahoma’s first new urbanist development

Oklahoma’s first new urbanist development, the Village at Central Park, is now under construction six blocks from downtown Tulsa. The infill project includes 103 units in brownstone townhomes and loft homes, as well as eight three-story retail buildings with offices on the second floor and residences on the third floor. The Tulsa Development Authority purchased the 9-acre site and tore down a dilapidated 1920s neighborhood. Among 11 proposals, the city selected the compact design by architect Leisa McNulty and developer The Village Builders. The developer has bought the site under a tax increment financing agreement, and the city will pay for some infrastructure improvements. The Village offers nine single-family home models, ranging in price from $170,000 to $295,000. The first homes will be ready for occupancy in late March.
