Peter Brown narrowly loses his bid for mayor of Houston

Peter Brown, an architect, urban planner, and member of the Congress for the New Urbanism, narrowly lost a bid to get into a runoff election for mayor of Houston, Texas. Brown finished third with 23 percent of the vote. Annise Parker (31 percent) and Gene Locke (25 percent) are the candidates in the runoff election to be held in December. Brown, a city council member, was leading in the polls as of late October, with many voters undecided. He spent $2.4 million of his own money on the campaign, according to The New York Times.
