A plan for 60 square miles around
ROBERT STEUTEVILLE    JUN. 1, 2002
A plan for 60 square miles around Research Triangle Park (RTP) in North Carolina calls for mixed-use, transit-oriented towns and neighborhoods “resembling downtown Chapel Hill,” according to a report in the Raleigh News & Observer. RTP has 90,000 workers, and all have to commute through heavy traffic. The Triangle J Council of Governments, representing two counties and four municipalities, created the conceptual plan. “How the plan will be used remains to be seen,” says the News & Observer. u
